Who has not gone to any gym or has had that friend who without being qualified trainers has told you look, you are doing this wrong, you must do so many series of this or eat this to get stronger or do this to lose weight?
Who has not ever seen that "freak" who rolls up his abdomen in plastic because this person says that it burns fat?
The truth is that it is to laugh at the things that people believe or manage to do...
Well, here I will tell you a few, I hope it helps you understand many things and so that you stop believing everything they tell you.
I always recommend that you seek information for yourself and from a trustful source, the more scientific the better.

Weights make you fat and cardio makes you slimmer: unless you don't eat more than you consume in calories, you won't put on more weight. Yes, cardio helps you lose fat, but weight training does too. The best is the combination of the two both to preserve your strength and muscle mass and to lose fat.
Carbohydrates are fattening you: In my opinion I hate this one the most. All my life I have eaten bread and pasta and I have never become fat or overweight .. Why? Because I have always been an active person. What really makes you fat is not moving enough, whether you eat it or not. In addition, carbohydrates are very necessary to give energy to both the body and the brain. So don't play with your health anymore and eat them. Just be an active person.
Being older prevents you from exercising: it depends on the exercise. I would not recommend to an older person who has never played sports to play a soccer game or lift heavy weights, but to do a more specific job. So it is never too late to start but you have to know the limitations of each one. But yes, by proxy you can.
Doing exercises for abs such as (sit-ups or crunches) is the best for my core: whether you want a six-pack or a strong core... I recommend that you focus on exercises where the participation of more muscle groups is required, such as: squats, deadlifts, barbell rows, planks... Note that the core is not only formed by the abdominals but also the obliques, the flexors and the lower back. Focus more on these exercises. And for the six-pack it would be losing body fat to see the abs.
"No pain, no gain": it is not necessary to go to the extreme of pain and even less that we have an injury. Yes, exercise causes some discomfort and soreness may appear, but these will go away in a few days. What you don't want is to overdo it, since what you want is continuity. So, yes, you hit it hard but you don't have to kill yourself then, you can't move from bed for a week.
Now you know more about it, I hope you are aware of what is getting into your ears and act accordingly.
Investigations are updating everyday and what was previously believed to be the best, today it does not work or has become obsolete. Especially in fitness...
Imagine that in the 20's, smoking was recommended for athletes... You think it was a myth, right? I hope so.
This is an example of how some say and others do without having had scientific facts.
